Six Injured In Collision Near Blairsville

Six persons were injured when a truck loaded with produce collided with a car driven by Mrs. James Stockdale on the William Penn Highway near Blairsville yesterday afternoon. The York Greensburg engineer KE Gerry and Saltsburg resident Mrs. James Stockdale were the most seriously hurt. Gerry, a state highways worker, suffered a fractured leg and lacerations. Mrs. Stockdale had a fractured nose and possible rib fractures. The truck, operated by Sol Goldberg of Johnstown, collided with the Stockdale car, causing the driver to lose control and crash into a ditch. the wreck then involved a State car operated by Godfrey Phasey of Greensburg and a car driven by George Messner of Carnegie. The accident remains under police investigation.

Snow resigns from Public Service Commission post

Dr. Herbert Snow resigned as chief engineer of the Public Service Commission on May first after 19 years in the post. He aided in Indiana’s sewerage system and disposal plant work. Snow now serves as secretary of the Pennsylvania Water Works Association after 27 years in state service.

Libby Holman Marries Tobacco Heir Reynolds

Libby Holman, famous crooner of Ive Gotta Have My Man, wed Smith Reynolds in a private ceremony at the Hotel Ambassador. The couple, living in Honolulu, tied the knot after Reynolds' Reno divorce from Ann Cannon. Holman, 20, is six years younger than Reynolds and a Cincinnati University graduate. She gained early fame as a Broadway torch singer. Reynolds is noted as an aviation enthusiast.

Starford Child Loses Three Fingers Playing with Cap

Frank Knapik a four year old of Starford is reported to have lost three fingers yesterday when a dynamite cap exploded while he played with it. His brother rushed him to Indiana Hospital around five pm. The index and middle fingers were blown off and part of the thumb damaged. Condition this morning was reported as good.

Legion Plans Pageant for July Fourth in Indiana
