Robbery at West Side party ends in multiple deaths
CHICAGO May 10. A robbery at a West Side apartment during a private party left three men dead and several injured. Albert Fireberg 38 and another guest were killed after intruders entered the home of Eisenstein and opened fire. A man identified as George Stanislawski 24 was later shot by Eisenstein during the confrontation. Police say two others fled with a large instrument case as witnesses described a chaotic scene. An inquest was scheduled for today. Stanislawski had been married just two weeks.

Fire destroys DuBois fire company quarters
A May 19 blaze swept through the volunteer hose quarters of the DuBois Municipal Building injuring two firefighters Blair Filey and Kenneth Clark. Damage estimated at 20000 dollars with equipment and emergency apparatus destroyed. Fire inspector William Reig said defective electrical equipment likely started the fire.
