An expert will teach fruit raisers how to improve orchards and save trees, a knowledge many states charge for but Pennsylvania offers free. The piece questions whether local farmers are alert enough to learn these techniques instead of producing wormy apples.
Juniata College defeated Greensburg Kentucky based Normal team 7 to 0 on Wednesday in Huntingdon. Brickley pitched well with 15 strikeouts as Normal struggled to bunch hits and run bases.
Mrs Mary W Alcorn died at her Saltsburg home on Friday May 12 1911 at 1 18 am aged 80 years 9 months 7 days. She was born in Conemaugh township and lived near Salisbury before moving to Saltsburg with her daughter. She leaves sister Mrs Henriett Barclay of Emporia Kansas nine children and two grandchildren. Her husband died 42 years ago and she was a long time member of Saltsburg Presbyterian Church. Funeral Monday at 2 pm at her home with Rev George M Ball officiating. Interment near Saltsburg.
Mrs Lavina George died at her Saltsburg home on May 13 1911 aged 91 years 3 months 9 days after a week long illness. Born near South Bend Armstrong County in 1820 she married Samuel George in 1845 and lived near Olivet before moving to Saltsburg. Survived by two sisters eight grandchildren and eight great grandchildren. Funeral May 16 at her home with Rev George M Pall and Rev W E Manteer. interment in Belyewen Cemetery.
A plant engine at the Indiana County Street Railways Company broke down on Thursday while maintaining vacuum for high steam pressure. Repair took about an hour, causing a temporary power shortage. The notice also promotes Chamberlain's Liniment for sore muscles and rheumatism, sold by dealers.
The Rev RR Wo Nockie, newly appointed rector of Christ Episcopal Church, arrived from New York Thursday evening and will be based at Iron Mountain Moch. Mrs Nickle and daughter follow in about two weeks. Holy Communion is to be celebrated Sunday morning at 9 o clock with morning prayer at 10:30 and evening prayer at 4 PM.
Justice of the Peace James A. Cross presided at Court Pisce on Thursday afternoon. B C Carley of Georgeville brought suit against Mrs Cra otter living on R D No 7, claiming she stole a revolver and a watch he owned. The justice discharged the woman for lack of sufficient evidence.
Charles McCrady and John St. Clair wore baseball toys Thursday at the Normal grounds to surprise friends with prowess. McCrady claims he can come back and soon handle the ball as well as with the Alwoona team. An ad later touts Missouri origin and urging removal of old rubbish, with A Teytor & Son offering new screen wire for doors and windows.
Insurrecto chieftain Madero to join De La Barra in Mexico City as Diaz regime ends. Officials say peace pact will bind quickly and armies to disband, restoring order after May events in El Paso. Madero to depart Juarez for capital once armistice terms are set.
A heat wave causes multiple deaths in the Pittsburg district as eight year old James F Edgell dies bathing in Chartiers Creek and seventy four year old Andrew Werner collapses. In Glen dale seven year old Stanislas Cyrkowski drowns and John A Ringheiser dies from heart distress due to heat. Chicago reports four heat related deaths and a suicide, with many prostrations.
In Atlanta on May 19 Judge Orr ruled in a case of mistreatment that a husband must kiss and caress his wife who seeks affection. He ordered the husband to give her at least one kiss daily, with a few extras optional, and dismissed the charges after a compromise verdict.
Grace M. Brookins obtained an absolute divorce from aviator Walter Brookins in Cincinnati. The decree cites failure to provide and abandonment. Alimony terms were settled outside the court and Mrs. Brookins is expected to receive a substantial sum. The case involved a contested proceeding.

Wilkes-Barre May 19 Patrick Clifford of Aversa fell over Campbell's ledge in the Wyoming valley and survived. He was wedged between rocks fifty to sixty feet below before a stump held him and he was rescued later, a feat reminiscent of Hiram Campbell who perished there 120 years ago during a pursuit by Indians.
New York May 1 reports say depositors in the Carnegie Trust Company may receive full payment. Andrew Carnegie is rumored to have decided to cover the deposits himself, though no banking department official confirms assurances from him. Downtown talk reflects a clear understanding that Carnegie intends to pay and to miss no depositor.

Michigan Governor Chase Osborn told President Taft Michigan will be for him at the 1912 convention. He endorsed Taft personally praised his progressiveness and reassured politicians about Michigan’s stance on Canadian reciprocity. He said nearly everyone in Michigan favors reciprocity.
Relatives locate May lu George Thor aged eighteen and her brother aged twenty in Newark after a decade long search. They had been living with a grandfather and are now returning to claim support for their elderly grandmother. The siblings work as a farm hand and a cigar maker respectively.
