Pioneer educator Samuel Wolf dead in Indiana County
The longtime educator and Marion Institute founder Prof Samuel Wolf died Monday at his East Chestnut street home after a two year decline from Bright's disease. Born April 14, 1832, he taught in Indiana County for decades and served ten years as county superintendent, shaping local normal school efforts. Funeral services are set for 2 40 pm tomorrow, with Rev S A Shankis and Rev McCullough officiating. interment in Greenwood cemetery.

Century Club Elects Officers for New Year
The New Century Club held a lengthy session on Monday afternoon electing officers for the coming year. Officers include President Katherine McLaughlin, Vice Presidents Annie Given Jane Wilson and J. C. Irving, Secretary Mrs S F Warner, Treasurer Mary McKnight. Directors cover two years Mrs John W Sutton and Mrs John S Hastings, one year Mrs Frank Keener, Public Interest Committee Mrs Hastings Mrs S J Telford, and Miss Fannie Thomas and Mary T Laughlin. The final meeting of the season adjourned at Mrs Sutton’s home where remarks were given and two articles read on window glass and telephone at sea, with a reminder of the DuBois gatherings June 1 and 12.

White Palace barbershop opens in Indians area
John Doney moved Monday to a new barbershop under the Farmers Bank, featuring white tile and baths and named the White Palace.
