Greensburg May 18 Westinghouse Electric and Manufacturing Company emergency products division announced plans for a 14 million dollar plant in Western Pennsylvania to produce propulsion equipment for the United States Navy. L.2 Rigdon named plant manager with P. Lenz as superintendent of manufacturing operations. Stone and Webster Engineering Corporation hired for the general contract. Location not disclosed. About 600 new employes will include largely untrained workers trained on machine tool operations at Westinghouse courses. Western PA site chosen after evaluating over a dozen sites within 60 miles of Pittsburgh for labor, transport, power, and water.

Felix Cheeks, 18, of Clune, was hospitalized with a probable fractured vertebrae after a crash on Route 85 near Plumville. His condition was listed as good today. The car, driven by Stanley Dobashinski, 21, of Clune, sideswiped a truck trailer, left the road, and hit an embankment with four others injured. Joseph Xsyace, 84, of Waterman, sought treatment at Indiana Hospital for head and body contusions after being struck by a car on Route 112 near Homer City. driver fled. Clay Duneen, 42, of Indiana R. A blast at the Hitchman Coal and Coke Company mine in McMechen W Va killed three men and burned two others. Ten miners escaped unhurt. Harry Parke and Mike Polus died. John Mojzer remains missing.
