Los Angeles May 1 A 4 Hartle twenty six of Cleveland home. He was said to be related to Governor Harmon. He lost control of his aeroplane and fell fifty feet. The craft struck him as it plunged to the ground. Hartle was a novice and died near Howey.
W. J. Dent, paroled in Austin Texas, served ten years of a life sentence for forging a pardon to free George Isaacs. Dent, from a prominent West Virginia family, had taken Isaacs’s place in prison. Elsewhere, authorities indicted 36 Adams county residents for vote selling and a Fremont couple faced bigamy charges.

In Cincinnati on May 18 John Mandze dowske, sixteen, led detectives to a West End lumber yard and reenacted the murder of sixteen year old Nicholas Urban. Urban was struck with a rock, gashed, robbed of 11 dollars, and died.
In Altoona Pennsylvania on May 18 Alfred Wendhime aged fifty challenged a judge after being sentenced for stealing three dollars while intoxicated. The judge threatened to double the term if he continued, and Wendhime ceased speaking as he received a sentence of not less than one nor more than four years in the penitentiary.
Chicago May 18 Judge George A Carpenter allowed counsel for J Ogden Armour and other indicted packers to file a motion for a rehearing of their demurrer to the indictment. The motion cites the Supreme Court Standard Oil decision. Carpenter ruled the Supreme Court must regard the Sherman anti trust act as a penal statute. Dies as Result of Treatment Middletown N Y May 15 Leonard Allen a four year old boy died after being held by gypsies who abducted him from home and kept him prisoner for months. Pittsburg Councilman Acquitted Pittsburg May 18 The prosecution of Select Councilman Snowgen Lennox for accepting 100 for his vote failed as the jury returned not guilty following judge’s instruction.
