Atlantic City May 16 An improvement in general business conditions is indicated by a sharp fall in bank failures. Rome C Stephenson president of the American Bankers Association told the 37th annual meeting of the Pennsylvania Bankers Association that good banking management must be spread to all banks. King Alfonso's Property Seized by Republican Government
Madrid May 15. Two palaces and an estate once owned by exiled King Alfonso XIII were seized under the new republican program to reclaim properties of the monarch. The Magdalena palace in Santandar, Miramar palace in San Sebastian, and an estate near Pontevedra on Cortejada were taken as private possessions. Brackenridge Student Freed After Jail Term
Lawrence McGuire a 17 year old Brackenridge High School student from Sharpsburg was released after four days in jail. He said a five dollar bet with Brackenridge students led to accusations against Pittsburgh detectives for alleged unfair methods. He was jailed for parole compliance but was discharged by Magistrate Jones after presenting his account of the bet.
