Forest Fire Burns 20 Acres Near Strongstown
A forest fire Thursday scorched about 20 acres along the C and L Railroad between Alverda and Strongstown. Fire wardens report the blaze began around 6 p.m. and was controlled by 7:30 p.m. Volunteers from Pine Township Barnesboro and Spangler aided alongside Culver firemen. The state forestry helicopter assisted by dropping water on the flames.
