Searchers Find Lost Child Near Pleasantville Picnic

Pleasantville, Pa. May 15. A searching party found two and a half year old Jackie Copeland safe and unhurt near his home, after wandering away from a family picnic yesterday afternoon. He had apparently spent the night in a nearby oil well power house and was rushed to Titusville Hospital for a checkup. Six hundred searchers hunted all night using bloodhounds, airplanes, floodlights and lanterns.

McCarthy Accuses Acheson and Lattimore of Red Influence

Senator McCarthy charged Secretary of State Acheson with betraying the United States in Asia and urged President Truman to fire him. Three Taken Off Niagara Near Falls

In Niagara Falls New York on May 15 two men and a woman were rescued from the Niagara River after a helicopter crew tried to save the woman who was clinging to a rock near Three Sisters Islands about 300 feet above the Horseshoe Falls. Jeannete Bugay of Niagara Falls was taken to St Marys Hospital for shock and exposure. The helicopter crew consisted of Owen O Neihaus 28 Grand Island and Joseph A Cannon 30 Niagara Falls. Park employees Herbert Sedita and John Paonessa rallied help as Sedita entered the current with a rope but was swept off his feet and saved by Paonessa returning to shore.
