Following a three month illness started by a paralytic stroke, Michael Yount aged 75, longtime Elderton resident, died at his son in law and daughter’s home. Funeral in Elderton United Presbyterian Church with burial in Elderton Cemetery. Miss Matilda Barr of near Pine Flats died of typhoid fever. A. J. Lydick, 79, longtime Cookport resident, died after two weeks illness. he was a deacon in East Mahoning Baptist Church and leaves 13 children. Mrs. Sue Thomas of Derry died after heart disease. funeral in Derry with interment in Grandview Cemetery.
Alwin H. Young of Scottdale, 50, a structural draftsman for Witt Steel Co., was killed when his car stopped on the tracks at a Crafton crossing as a Pennsylvania passenger train, 12 minutes late, bore down. Crossing watchman Joseph Kelly said his warning was drowned out by the train. A contract was let at Littletown for an addition to St. Paul’s Lutheran Church.
Bethlehem rescue crews from multiple West Virginia mines returned home after a long, grueling effort to locate survivors and recover bodies. The Bethlehem squads earned praise for per person efforts, enduring harsh air and extreme conditions without illness. Two fires within the wrecked mine worsened the atmosphere, one smothered after ignition and the other burning until last Tuesday in the same section.

Harrisburg May 14 INS The last of the LO76 bills left by the 1927 Legislature were cleared from Governor John S. Fisher desk and sent to the State Department for permanent files. The 30 day action limit expired at noon today. Fisher approved 494 general laws and 347 appropriations while vetoing 177.
