Homer City Co ed Sings At Recital

Magdalen Bajcura of Homer City and Eleanor Gettler of McKeesport seniors in Seton Hill College Music Department will present a joint recital in Cecilian Hall on May 9. Bajcura opens with Bach Jesus Joy of Man’s Desiring and Schumann Papillons, then Debussy Suite for Piano and Strauss Soiree de Vienne followed by Liszt Hungarian Fantasy with Jo Ann Jackanich at second piano. Both majors in music education have taught in Greensburg ward schools and High School, plan public school music careers, graduate in June, and become certified as music supervisors. Parent details noted: Rev and Mrs John Bajcura.

Penn Run 4 H Club Elects New Officers

The Penn Run 4 H Club at the Grange Hall elected Janet Widdowson president for the coming term. Laura Upholster became vice president Iris Widdowson secretary treasurer Lucille Upholster game leader and Geraldine Smith news reporter. Members plan an outdoor cooking project and a skating party May 17 at Indiana Roller Rink.

Maple Syrup Output Tops 14-Year High in Pa

A federal state agricultural survey reports Pennsylvania produced 137,000 gallons of maple syrup in 1954 and 40,000 pounds of maple sugar. The state ranks third in syrup and second in sugar production, compared with 1953 outputs of 4,000 gallons and 14,000 pounds respectively.

Clune Sailor Due Home After Tour

Francia L. Hanick gunner's mate third class of Clune is scheduled to return home in May from a six month Far East tour aboard the battleship USS Wisconsin. The ship spent time in the Far East and participated in amphibious training at Iwo Jima in March while serving the flagship of the Seventh Fleet.

Rochester Mills Soldier Returns From Overseas Duty

Bible Class Fetes Team And Scouts Banquet

The Chapman Bible Class of the Lutheran Church in Indiana held a banquet last evening in the church basement honoring the basketball team that won the Indiana Church Basketball League and the Cub Scout Pack. Speakers were Regis Peck McKnight, coach at Indiana State Teachers College, and John Fern, Scout executive of the William Penn Council. The program began at 6 30 p.m. per class president Eber Myers.
