Third Consecutive Decrease Reported From Relief Rolls
Harrisburg May 13. The third straight weekly drop in Pennsylvania relief rolls was reported by Robi L Johnson executive director. For the week ending May 4 relief recipients fell by 15 361 to 1 714 272 and families dropped to 543 432 a one percent net decline. Of 3 000 temporary workers since March 23 only 152 returned to relief. Total direct and work relief expenditures were 3 748 802, down 57 634 from the prior week.

A five member Pennsylvania State Police team dominated a pistol tournament at West Point Military Academy with a 1459 point team total. Individual scores ranged up to 293 by H B Frazier and Tom Jones, while teams from New York State Police and West Point posted strong finishes. Railroader Ends His Life By Hanging
Harry J. Shank 56 of Blairsville a Pennsylvania Railroad freight conductor hanged himself despondent over ill health. Surviving are a widow three sons two brothers and a sister. Funeral in Blairsville Tuesday at 2 30 with Rev J Norman Hunter officiating. Interment Blairsville Cemetery.

Local Hospital Reports Road Collision Injuries
Conditions of Harold H McKean and Attorney J Reppell Moorhead both of North Ninth street improved at Indiana Hospital. McKean had a fractured skull and Moorhead a severe forehead laceration with loss of blood. Driver Robert Shubert of Kittanning was slightly injured. Also reported improving were State Highway Patrolman F L Zettlemeyer after major surgery, Lucille Hileman injured seriously in Mechanicsburg, and Ellsworth Gibson shot by neighbor Philip Cannizzaro who mistook him for a prowder.

Nurses Finalize Objective for Nursing Entrance Law
After 30 years Pennsylvania nurses achieved the last objective from the 1905 legislative committee, making a standard high school course a legal entrance requirement for nursing schools. Former Pittsburgh newspaperman dies in auto crash injuring four
Patrick Henry Murtha 60 of Wyord Allegheny County was killed when his car crashed at the William Penn Highway and Route 5 intersection in Armagh. Four other people, including Martha Solomon and her two children, were injured and taken to a Johnstown hospital. Authorities said Murtha’s vehicle swung into the headwall of a culvert after attempting a left turn. An inquest was scheduled for next Saturday.
