Mr Blithers chats with Whele Sitan at the post office about Jim choosing to become a scientist. The old farmer recalls how Jim helped pull stumps from the cow pasture, revealing his early interest.
Tom Eildebrand guarantees TRAEUMA to banish rheumatism or money back. The ad touts quick relief from rheumatism, sciatica, arthritis, neuralgia, and kidney disease, claiming it starts to act today and ships from The Rheuma Co in Buffalo, NY for 60 cents a bottle.
Vernon C Seaver Jr invites every boy and girl attending the matinee and evening performances of the Young Buffalo Wild West Hippodrome and Far East exhibition on Saturday to enjoy a free ride in a genuine Indian or company ride. The event is presented by Vernon C Seaver, Jr., eleven year old nephew of the exhibition's general manager.
Vernon is described as the youngest cowboy and a fine rider with a keen aim. Clad in a regular cowboy costume he presents a lively image of happy, contented boyhood that captivates local boys and girls in the city.
Washington May 13 The Japanese government frames its protest over the alien land bill as a matter of national pride and honor rather than treaty rights. The administration believes California may not violate the treaty, pledging federal support if Governor Johnson signs. Japan seeks no court action and will not publicize protest details, while Secretary Bryan warns no war is imminent.

Washington May 13 The senate committee investigating the police department for failing to protect suffrage marchers on March 3 plans a milder report than earlier feared. They blame Congress for not clearing the parade route earlier and anticipate gentler conclusions. Tomorrow hearings will begin on a constitutional equal suffrage amendment bill led by Senator Thomas.
Edward Ruckman, a local saloonkeeper, drowned when his launch capsized on the Ohio River near Evansville Indiana. He carried about 150 dollars in mostly coin in his pocket which weighed him down and led to the tragedy.
Bridgeport Ohio May 13 riot among about 300 Slavs at a Linwood cemetery funeral left two men wounded perhaps fatally and another beaten. Andy Sudinski and Joe Latroski were shot in the stomach and may die. Mike Surratz was beaten. The uproar centered around the grave of Mike Fratanch killed in a Barton mine collapse. Sheriff John Anderson and a posse arrived to restore order.
