Fire Wrecks Slab Mill In Spangler
SPANGLER An electrical short blamed for a fire destroyed a slab mill at J W Hammond Lumber Co in Spangler. Estimated damages were 10000 dollars. Fire chief Wayne Winters said the blaze began about 9 am and burned out of control as volunteers from Spangler and Barnesboro fought it for over an hour. Owner J W Hammond said losses are partially insured. The 30 by 50 foot frame building housed milling equipment and state police fire marshal to probe the blaze.
