Free Fishing Day Draws Indiana County Kids

About 1 000 Indiana County children are slated for the third annual Free Fishing Day at Sportsmen's Farm Penn Run. Open to under 16s and women with PA licenses, the event runs 1 30 to 4 30 pm with free Coca Cola and wiener sandwiches. Prizes exceed 150 dollars with 15 grand prizes for largest trout by woman or child.

Jobless Claims Rise in April in Indiana County

Unemployment compensation claims filed in April at the Pennsylvania State Employment Service local office reached 6,907, a near ten percent month rise. Manager Boyd W. McKnight attributed the increase to temporary layoffs in construction and mining and the new calendar quarter boosting eligible benefits. Continued claims statewide totaled 334,681, with 4,144 more in April this year than last year, signaling a mixed regional trend.

Jim Stewart Tickets Still Available

Guest tickets for the Jimmy Stewart testimonial dinner on May 20 have been distributed. Some reserved tickets not yet picked up may be available by Tuesday morning. Ticket chairman William T. Mount Sterling Ky. In a small country church a physically handicapped couple plan to wed at 3:30 pm in Church of God at Hope.
