Hagen Wins Sixth Time as America Dominates Golf Open

Hagen wins for the sixth time as American golfers sweep the leaders in a dominant Open showing. Johnny Farrell, Leo Diegel, and Hagen lead a strong American finish with Farrell scoring 73 for 298 total and Diegel closing with 77 in the final round. England's best scorers are Abe Mitchell and Percy Allis at 3800.

Obituary and fatal accident claim two local lives

OLD RESIDENT Mrs. William Stormer aged 65 dies at home in White township from post operative complications. Funeral plans unavailable in this issue. Theodore Kephart aged 24, son of the late John Kephart of Cherryhill township, killed by a live wire at Colve mines while leaving work. He belonged to a family of 13 and was a brother of Mrs. John Steffy.

Copeland Berkey Coupe Deaths In Indiana County Notices

White township funeral services will be held at the home of George Kephart in Belaano with interment in Dunkard Cemetery near Penn Run for Richard W. Copeland age about 68 who died at his Ernest home after living in Alabama and Creighton. Funeral services Monday at 1 pm by Rev. Spencer. Interment in Oakland Cemetery Indiana. James C. Berkey, aged 57, formerly of Johnstown, died suddenly in Armaugh after moving from Lewisville. Survived by widow Margaret Berkey and daughter Jennie R McCurdy, plus brother Ottertrin Berkey. Body at S A Rhodes home with funeral tomorrow at 2:30 pm. Interment Grandview Cemetery. Anna H Coupe of Grass Flats Pa, 67, died in Indiana hospital. Funeral Sunday at 8 pm from her Grass Flats home.

True Romangs at tented theatre delight crowd

The True Romangs entertained with wild animals overhead tightrope girls and well trained horses. The Wild West show drew free attendance for members while Sparks aliens acted as gracious hosts and the afternoon promised full program of entertainment.

True Romance Club hosts nostalgic county circus day

Mrs. James Edwards of Idamtat led the club in celebrations as members, many with 40 to 56 year marriages, gathered for a circus at the county fair. Names of male attendees and a mix of locals from Indiana and nearby towns filled the program while one couple admitted never visiting a circus before. The editor and staff praised the day and invited a return visit.

Parliament 18 dissolves as May 80 election looms

The Thirty-fourth Parliament of the Kingdom is dissolved and writs issued for a general election on May 80. About 600 MPs will not seek re election while 1 600 candidates are expected to contest 615 seats. Nominating day is May 20 and the new parliament may meet in late June. If Conservatives win, Baldwin plans to reconstruct his Cabinet before facing parliament.

Postal Receipts Show Increase in April Revenue

Washington May 10 The Post Office Department reports a rise in April postal receipts in 50 selected cities to 7 80 and 78 18 up by 5 percent from a year ago. Industrial cities totaled 8 18 0 6 0 with an increase of 9 percent. Leading increases in selected cities were Dorchester City Minneapolis Syracuse. Industrial leaders Waterbury Conn Phoenix Ariz Springfield Ohio with gains of 23.26 percent 19 14 percent and 1.12 percent respectively.
