Grant School Closes After May Day Program

Grant School ended its term on Thursday May tth 1926 with a large crowd of citizens. The afternoon featured races flag drill readings songs and the school newspaper The Little Mahoning Bee Monthly. Prizes were awarded and the winner received a valuable cuff set. New parochial school construction on Was Main Street for St David's parish was noted.

Highway area to discuss electric service for three towns

Residents along the Tadiand Punxsutawney highway from Marchand to Punxsutawney gathered with Penn Public Service Company representative Kentog to hear the plan for electric service. A seven member committee led by Edward A. Murray was named to canvass territory as the firm needs 60 customers and a portion of the construction cost. The Reno Public Company is ready to start once the signups meet the deadline. Dr Pringle Hugh Sha ten and David Wyant spoke on the advantages of rope fuel service?

Secretary Mellon to Campaign in Pennsylvania Fight

Secretary of the Treasury Andrew W. Mellon will tour Pennsylvania to urge Republicans to nominate the Mellon-endorsed ticket for state primaries. Government talks with coal men over strike resolution

Miners' Federation leaders met Royal Coa Commission chair Sir Herbert Samuel and Trades Union Congress officials to discuss ending the dispute with a plan for a general strike and lockout. The proposal would extend the coal subsidy two months if miners accept a 10 to 15 percent wage cut. Unclear acceptance from miners, while signs point to stiff resistance and ongoing food convoy protections.

Byrd Plans New Arctic Flights From Peary Land

Resting after a demanding flight, Commander Byrd and his crew are forming new aerial ventures aimed at Peary Land in Greenland. NEGLIGENCE IN BURNING BRUSH BRINGS TRIAL

Fire alarms mark a day of blazes in town. At 4 20 p m volunteers and boys with brooms fought a brush and grass fire near homes and a gas station. A second alarm at 4 30 p m hit the mortuary rear on East Market Street where buckets and water from a private garage kept flames in check until firefighters arrived. The morgue office rear suffered heavy heat damage and steps burned. cause remains undetermined.

Mrs Blanche Edwards aged 61 widow of Albert Edwards and aunt of Mrs D S Edwards of South Eleventh street died at her Wilkinsburg home Friday afternoon Funeral services were held at her daughter Mrs KR Rosenstiel 1902 Coal Street Wilkinsburg this afternoon at 1 o'clock

School addition contract lets at Bethlehem and Curwensville street work
