Rent control was transferred from the Office of Temporary Controls to the Office of the Housing Expediter on Sunday May 4 under an executive order. Housing Expediter F A Creedon announced Tighe H Woods of Chicago as Deputy Housing Expeditor for Rent Control. Creedon noted Rent Control Order No 1 remains unchanged, with 6 250 employees and 620 defense rental areas nationwide. The field Rent Control functions stay with regional and area offices separate from Housing and Non Residential Construction.
