The Indiana State Teachers College board of trustees re elected most existing educational and administrative staff with four exceptions. resignations from Mrs. John W. Neff and E F Sullivan Conservatory accepted. A state policy barred two family members from state jobs. Longtime chairman Thomas Sutton and other officers were re elected as well as officers to fill vacancies. Miners killed in odd manner at Wilkes-Barre shaft
Seven miners died when a large boulder crashed onto the hoist cage at the Glen Alden Coal Company mine in Wilkes-Barre Pennsylvania. Four men aboard the cage were struck or killed as the cage rose, while three others fell about 400 feet to the shaft foot. Investigators were sent to determine the cause.

Bank robbers who got $12000 caught in Cleveland
Ten hours after a bank hold up at Eden New York near Buffalo the two young robbers were captured by Cleveland detectives. They admitted the holdup and named Albert Cassidy 29 of Portland Oregon and Milton Rutherford 25 of Brooklyn New York as the offenders. Detectives seized three suitcases containing 5094 in loot and 500 rounds of revolver ammunition. Both men have New York criminal records and are on parole.

60 Million Tax Plan of Republican Majority
Harrisburg May 8 The Republican majority in the Senate today proposed a $60,000,000 tax program to fund one year of relief. It includes a one cent stamp tax on every ten cigarettes an eight percent corporate net income tax and a foreign corporation tax among others. The plan also adds a check tax a gasoline tax rise a one mill mercantile tax increase and a series of smaller levies to reach the total.

Five youths waive hearings in Indiana theft gang case
Hearings for five of six youths arrested Monday night by Coury Detective Harry E. Koozer and state highway patrolmen were held yesterday afternoon before Justice of the Peace Jay D. Hill. Lloyd Shupe, 25, and Clark Campbell, 24, both of Salisbury, who allegedly engineered the gang, waived preliminary hearings on felonious entry and larceny charges. Rural relief plan aims at self supporting families
Unemployed rural families would be helped to become self sufficient by raising part or all of their subsistence on their own land under a rural readjustment policy. State Relief Director Robert L. Johnson said equipment and seeds would be supplied where needed to reduce relief costs while placing people in healthier environments. About 20 percent of the state's 1.7 million unemployed are rural, with 19 percent from areas with populations under 5,000 including stranded communities and those tied to nearby factories. Industrial conditions are blamed for rural unemployment as much as for factory layoffs.

Council Plans Oil Program in Near Future
The Indiana Council awarded the oiling contract to Bituminous Service Co of West Chester, Pa at six cents per gallon.
