Prothonotary Carlyle Orr of Indiana County was badly hurt in a three vehicle wreck on Route 422 near Indiana. His car and a tractor trailer caught fire, two motorists pulled him from the flames, and he was hospitalized with brain concussion burns and a fractured rib. The crash damaged weighing about $12,000. Orr remains in serious but not critical condition.

Crash Involves Students Returning From Dance
Two car loads of high school students returning from a dance in Spangler collided at Route 422 and 553 near Indiana. The crash at 1:45 a.m. caused $900 in damage but no injuries. Drivers were James G. Daniels Jr of Clymer and Charles A. Dumm of Spangler. Daniels’ car had 6 occupants and Dumm’s 4. Dumm reportedly stopped on 422 before turning onto 554 when Daniels’ car struck.

Route 80 project to start Monday widening and resurfacing
Actual work on Route 80 between Indiana and Musser Nursery will begin Monday. A F Moreau & Sons Inc of Indiana will set up a field office at Twin Pines west of the nursery. The 16 foot road will be widened to 22 feet and resurfaced while traffic is maintained.
