Doumer Shot in Paris Death Rumors Sweep City

Paris reporters detail the shooting of President Paul Doumer by Russian émigré Dr Paul Jouguloff at the Rothschild residence. Initial police bulletins suggested death, later doctors said wounds were superficial. Jouguloff was arrested amid crowd rough handling. two other victims included author Claude Parrere and police director Paul Guichard.

One Chance In Thousand For Child’s Skull Operation

In Lewistown Pennsylvania on May 6 an Indiana Evening Gazette report notes surgeons estimate less than one chance in a thousand for Elsie Marie Mushelak to survive skull operation. Dr I W Black tests blood and plans to operate next week possibly with two or three procedures. Elsie Marie is the daughter of Frank and Mrs Mushelak of New Brighton Staten Island.

Indiana Wins Opener From Vandergrift

Indiana right hander Davis pitched a seven inning 4-0 win over Vandergrift White Sox. Davis allowed four scattered hits and struck out nine as Indiana drew first blood this season. Premier Sidky Escapes Bomb During Train Ride

Cairo May 6 Premier Ismail Sidky Pasha narrowly escaped death when a bomb aimed at his train exploded prematurely. The blast blew up tracks and left a large crater but caused no casualties as the train was halted and repairs completed before continuation.

Widow Denies $260000 Theft in Chicago Court

Sofia C. Paul, a 56 year old widow and former secretary to 76 year old Henry Wirsing, denied charges of stealing deeds, jewelry and bonds valued at $200000. Wirsing had planned to marry Paul and had given her deeds to apartment houses in a prenuptial agreement, she testified.

Former Justice Agent Accused in Lindbergh Kidnapping Case

Gaston B. Means former department of justice agent remained jailed after failing to post 100000 bond tied to alleged ransom money he obtained from Mrs. Er. B. McLean in the Lindbergh baby case. He duped Navy official Capt. Emory Land priest Francis J. Harney and Lindbergh family reps, arrested after not returning ransom paid March 7. He pleaded not guilty and offered a philosophical shrug at arraignment.

The State paid bounties on predatory animals for April per Game Protector Lewis Lituzinger. Indiana County paid gray fox 29 and weasels 32. total $148. State totals include wild cats 17 gray fox 461 weasels 1 983 goshawks 18 amounting to $4 162.

Quarterly Meeting of Free Methodists Begins Tonight

Death calls Mrs H Malissa Trusal in Indiana county

A sufferer from a long illness, Mrs. H Malissa Trusal widow of P Hy Trusal, died at 1 15 P M Thursday in the home of her daughter Mrs Curtis R Waugaman 1211 Water street. Born February 27 1859 near Plumville she was the daughter of William and Mary A Allshouse and last survivor of that family. She married Mr Trusal October 14 1880 the couple living in Willett for 88 years before moving to Indiana. She was active in Harmony Grove Lutheran Church and leaves two daughters Mrs Vernie A Rankin of Dormont Pittsburgh and Mrs Minnie M Miller of Indiana. (Continued on Page Two)

Rior Freed And Rearrested In Dilltown Riot Case

John Berchila of Dilltown was freed on bond to appear in court for rioting then rearrested on disorderly conduct. He allegedly threatened to burn company buildings after release. Ten defendants from the April 27 disturbance remain in custody. four released on bail, seven still jailed.

Librarian Elected by Indiana Free Library Committee

At a meeting in Mrs. James W. Mack’s home Miss Ida Shields was elected librarian to replace resigning Carl William Hull. Residents of Indiana were prioritized and out of town applicants were not considered. Shields will begin July first as Hull becomes city librarian.
