Washington WW America’s first space satellite is anticipated to circle Earth for about two weeks. Observers may spot it about an hour before sunrise and after sunset with field glasses from up to 30,000 feet. Dr. John P. Hagen, head of Project Vanguard, said launch between 1957 and 1958 is planned, with an 20 inch diameter, 214 pound sphere projected to orbit every eight minutes at altitudes from 200 to 1,500 miles, averaging around 300 miles.
Patricia EB Newman daughter of Mrs Myron Fred Newman of 352 North Sixth Street Indiana has been granted a Corinne Monk Wahr Scholarship by the State Teachers College Indiana. Miss Newman a senior in Indiana Joint High School will graduate this June. She earned a high rating and a merit certificate in National Merit Scholarship Foundation exams and has been accepted for entrance in Indiana State Teachers College home economics in September 1996. The Corinne Monk Wahr Scholarship provides 100 dollars for each of the four years of attendance.
