During the past month 26 prisoners were confined to the Indiana county Jail. At the beginning of the month there were 11 prisoners in custody and 15 were committed during the month. Fourteen have been discharged and at present there are 12 confined. Five prisoners were garoates of the entire month.

In New York on May 4 a performer riding in a wild west show under the name Jane Howard was thrown when her horse lost its footing. She sprained an ankle. Jane Howard is believed to be Mrs. William Woodend of New York, wife of a prominent brokerage head, with the show having used an assumed name to protect her identity amid disputes over her participation.
Harrisburg May 4 The senate passed the school code by voice vote and sent it to LU for concurrence. The House Law and Order Committee amended the bill redefining the state treasurer to lease licenses to brewers and distillers. The measure originally allowed direct sales to consumers statewide but now restricts sales to the license district with deliveries allowed elsewhere. An amendment lets brewers and distillers under a state license surrender the old license and obtain a new one under the Kline act.
Baltimore May 4 Mrs Andrew Carnegie suffered a sudden hemorrhage during a peace congress address in the Lyric box. She recovered with medical care and planned to proceed to Washington. In Washington Mrs Carnegie arrived with Mr Carnegie and Dr Vineyliit. doctors reported no danger of relapse despite fatigue from late hours with her husband’s public schedule.
Reports claim a skull and trunk found on a farm near Fowler point to a murder linked to John Moor a wealthy Indiana farmer. Authorities question a similar case at Beile Guit mess farm and a Chicago man Joseph Kemper’s disappearance with two other missing men. Poole’s son alleges Kemper was killed accidentally while hunting and body dismembered to avoid public backlash after past neighbor shooting.
