A truck hit a bicycle injuring a girl who was hurled to the curb. She was treated at Indiana Hospital for lacerations and contusions but is not believed to be in serious condition. Witnesses indicated the driver was not at fault.

Troops Graceton Homer City and Brush Valley will exhibit merit badges in handicraft electricity Birdatody and other disciplines. Scout Herbert McAnnulty of Homer City earned top praise at the Bird House Contest in Indiana on Friday April 26.
Washington May 3 Seymour Lowman Assistant Secretary of the Treasury ordered an immediate probe into reports that customs agents aboard the liner Bremen in New York harbor slapped the hips of about 7000 passengers returning from abroad. Treasury officials warned such undignified bagage checks violate regulations and may lead to dismissal. The inquiry, run with New York citizens, seeks to determine if a specific complaint shows law violations abroad and to ensure courtesy in inspections.

A glycerine plant blast partially wrecked the American Glycerine Company factory at Warren Junction twenty eight miles north of here. No one was present at the time and no injuries were reported. Cause of the explosion was not immediately learned.

William Henderson, 79, a noted jockey and horseman from Tyrone, died at Altoona Hospital after being struck by a car driven by John Foreland of Altoona. The collision happened yesterday afternoon as Henderson was walking near a skeet range. he was hurled 63 feet by the impact.
Goldman secured the Western Pennsylvania championship in the oratorical contest and earned a spot to represent the region at the Central-southeastern Zone National semi finals at Carnegie on May 10. Miriam Bird of Meyersdale High School finished second with eight points speaking on Personalities at the Constitutional Convention. John Paulus of Miles Bryan High School took third with Our Constitution the Cable of National Unity.
Mrs Lawrence Lockard of North Fifth Street returned to Indiana yesterday after attending her niece's wedding in Erie and visiting her mother in Punxsutawney for two weeks. The trip was made overland with Miss Lucile Zeitler driving.
