Forest fires flare in Indiana County threats rise
Minor outbreaks yesterday in the Gallitzin district warned of a recurrence of the forest fire menace. With warm, dry weather returning, the first blazes in more than a week were reported around noon. A brush fire burned about 10 acres on Rochester and Pittsburgh Coal Company land in Center township. A 40 acre blaze swept Henry Coy farm in Cherryhill township. Another fire occurred at Dilltown in Buffington township. Forestry officials urged utmost caution as a weekend fire risk looms with many forest visitors.
