Godfrey Told Tumor Cancerous After Lung Surgery
New York AP reports Arthur Godfrey was informed the tumor removed from his lung is cancerous. He remained in good spirits and in satisfactory postoperative condition at Columbia Presbyterian as doctors plan bi daily updates. The 55 year old radio TV star underwent a five hour operation to remove the upper left lung lobe and was listed as able to stand the procedure well. It may be two months before he can return to the air.

Vandergrift man arrested for four bad checks in Indiana
A Vandergrift man, Robert Alton Holt, 29, was apprehended after a sales clerk at Brody's Department Store reported a suspicious check.
