Washington AP reports Charles E. Wilson resigned as mobilization director in protest at steel price policies, raising fears of a national steel strike April 8. Industry peace talks in New York with CIO United Steelworkers resume, but no assurance of a price boost to offset a government recommended 1 714 cent hourly wage increase.

In Trenton New Jersey AP reports inmates at Trenton State Prison blocked a cell block after a riot sparked by complaints over food and medical care. Guards flooded the wing with water from a high pressure pump to drive out about 25 convicts who had damaged the area and set fires. Tear gas was used again but had little effect as windows were missing and the block is well ventilated.
In Munsan Korea communist staff officers urged top level negotiators to break the deadlock over Russia aiding police a Korean truce. The Reds proposed the joint sub committee on armistice supervision meet for the first time in over two months at 11 am tomorrow 9 pm EST Monday. Col Don O Darrow said the UN Command reply would come two hours before the meeting. Reds nominated Russia as one of three representatives on a neutral inspection commission but Allies deem Russia a belligerent and unacceptable. No headway has been made and reports say the issue may be handed to negotiators.
In Pottsville Pennsylvania the body of 39 year old miner Joseph Soditus of Minersville was recovered from a shaft where five workers died Tuesday. Three other bodies were sighted but could not be recovered due to rock and debris. The tunnel was flooded and debris filled after a dynamite charge opened a gap to an abandoned mine.

Four men are being questioned by state police and county detectives over a $138,000 robbery at coal operator Craig Saul's Butler home. Saul's wallet, totaling $2,600, was taken in a related incident.
In San Francisco city center near City Hall a teen-age gang shooting left two dead and three wounded. Homicide Inspector Al Nelder said suspect Robert A. Ranson, 19, admitted firing on rival Fillmore gang members with a .45 pistol. Police arrested Ranson as a round-up of juvenile gangsters began, ending a long feud between the Fillmore and Portola gangs.
State College based Bureau of Business Research reports Pennsylvania industrial activity climbed to a new high in February. Strong gains in metal industries drove the rise while non durable goods like textiles fell.

Belgrade premier Marshal Tito bluntly warned the Western powers that they risk losing the sympathy of our peoples by backing Italian territorial claims in Trieste.
