Landholders vote on Blacklick district formation in Cambria
In Blacklick Township Cambria County landholders from Burrell East Wheatfield West Wheatfield Buffington Brushvalley Center Pine and parts of Cherryhill and White Townships in Indiana County voted at Strongstown polling place. The secretary noted 24 percent of 1100 eligible landholders with three acres or more cast ballots. A 79 percent favorable result met state board expectations. Major Wass said the board will decide April 12 if sufficient interest exists to form the district. If approved two residents will be appointed. then the district will elect three supervisors alongside them to govern. This is the first district election under the 1937 General Assembly act. Westmoreland and parts of Allegheny counties will also vote. More districts are proposed in York Lancaster Butler Venango and Clarion counties. There are more than 40 000 different ways of sealing eight persons at a table for eight.
