Washington March 30 Senator Alben Barkley of Kentucky moves to the Roosevelt camp as temporary chairman and keynote at the Democratic national convention. Roosevelt forces seek to place his name before the Chicago arrangements committee, challenging anti-Roosevelt factions led by Jouett Shouse. Some Roosevelt supporters doubt Barkley’s suitability given his prohibition stance, while five vice chairmen of the party oppose his selection though may concede in Chicago. Iowa’s 26 delegates align with Roosevelt, boosting conve ntion momentum amid protests from Oklahoma delegates.
A quiet wedding occurred Tuesday at 1:30 PM in the Methodist Episcopal parsonage as Miss Gus sie M. Lewis wed William Benjamin Douglass. Rev. John A. McCamey officiated. The couple will reside on West Philadelphia Street after a wedding trip.

Three inmates from Dilltown Blairsville and Earl Lamrne were taken to the Allegheny County workhouse near Pittsburgh in custody of Sheriff A. Eugene Wilson and Deputy H. River Borlard. Convictions were for malicious mischief explosives damming a home. robbery. and receiving stolen goods. Also notices for Scout bird house deliveries and a Springfield Indiana Armory dance with Kay Jay orchestra.
Federal agents operating near the Lindbergh estate in Hopewell New Jersey told the official police bulletin they act independently of state police while following an unknown lead. Agents identified themselves to residents and examined a mysterious New Jersey car, but the bulletin notes no headquarters ties or conferences and nothing of importance disclosed.

George Young, 45, a bandit, died after a failed hold up at a telegraph branch office in Chicago. Detective Far Olsen concealed in a rear room shot him as he staggered out. Floyd Cox fled the car and was captured. another accomplice remained detained.
The J. A. Gault Company of Kil tanning will open a Garden Shop at 16 North Sixth Street in the rooms formerly used by the Indiana Wall Paper and Paint Company on Friday April 1. The shop will display 160 varieties of shrubs roses fruit trees and ornamental trees and will offer advice on purchases and planting.

Joseph Key, 23, descendant of Francis Scott Key, begins a year at Maryland House of Correction after a Circuit Court manslaughter conviction. His car struck and killed Mrs. Lillian Mattingly Bevans near Leonardtown on November 21. He also faced a suspended $100 fine for driving after license cancellation.
In Davenport on March 30 Iowa's 26 votes in the June Democratic convention in Chicago were pledged to Gov. Franklin D. Roosevelt of New York. The state Democratic Convention adopted a resolution instructing all delegates to back Roosevelt and another to push a party plank on submitting the prohibition question to the states. The convention also supported abolition of the Federal Form Board.
Brave Graniteville firefighters pulled a parrot from a second floor fire as a cage was carried from a home in flames. In Linthrop Letter Carrier John Fox alerted Central Fire Station with a shout that roofs were on fire prompting a quick fire crew response.
Dr Henry Clay McKinley cousin of President McKinley and Meyersdale’s oldest resident died at his homestead at 4 o clock. Death followed complications of age. He practiced medicine for over 50 years and served as a doorkeeper in the U S House in Washington. Survived by son Arthur McKinley of New Orleans and a daughter.
In Altoona Pennsylvania on March 30 Mrs Edna M Filson was accidentally locked inside a store refrigerator. Patrolman Harry Huston on his beat heard muffled cries and opened the door to find her exhausted and nearly frozen, saved from death by his timely action.
Gere Clawson and Maggie Belle Armstrong were married this morning by Rev. F. McConnell at 346 South Thirteenth Street. The couple, both well known in Blacklick township, will reside on the Ferguson farm in Blacklick township.
After a prolonged illness, Jesse Stuchell, longtime Plumville resident and former electrician for Butler Coal Company, Plumville, was taken to the Cleveland Clinic yesterday. The Bowser Ambulance transported him, and he withstood the trip well.

Governor Pinchot urged employment for Pennsylvanians during a brief speech at Homer City and a stop in Blairsville area as part of the opening ceremony for the Lucinge boro to Coral road. New York March 30 Directors of the Westinghouse Electric and Manufacturing Company declared a quarterly dividend of 25 cents a share on common stock, about $1 annual basis, down from 2.50 previously. A year ago the common dividend was reduced to 1 quarterly from 1.25. After two payments at this rate, the 6 24 cent quarterly rate was set. The regular quarterly dividend of 871% cents on preferred stock was declared as well. Both payable April 30 to holders of record April 11.
In Punxsutawney on March 30, Grandma Specht will turn 90 on April 1 and friends are asked to send a card. Her address is 1419 29th Street, McKeesport, Pa. She recently left the hospital after four cataract operations and now has good sight. She lived in this area most of her life before moving to McKeesport three years ago.
Frankie Powell, a young patient at Cook Hospital, marks days to Saturday between surgeries. He has endured 32 operations under anesthesia, with each healing session leaving him hopeful and smiling. Despite a cyanotic condition and prior laryngature dilation, doctors note improvement and possible graduation to leave within months.
