A parade of guests and visitors fills Indiana scene as Miss Nancy Nichol tours Easter events with her family. Lawyers, railroad detectives, and officials from DuBois to Johnstown visit for legal matters, court business, and friendships. Shifts in travel include residents heading to Terento for Easter, and locals returning from Washington and Pittsburgh.
Barbara Blakely held the unclaimed sixth winning number as the Ritz Theater and J M Stewart Co distributed prizes. The five earlier numbers were read three times with no claimant, drawing strong theatergoer interest and praise for sponsors.
An old advertisement touts Thompson's Barosma as a harmless liquid remedy for weak or inflamed kidneys. It promises quick relief by delivering agents to diseased kidneys and offers a money back pledge if backache and kidney pains persist. The coroner’s office reveals that a ten by twenty four foot rock slab fell without warning on five workers. The slab, covering Jerry Kosice and Painder, was broken into sections to free the bodies. Dr. Deremiah Boston Work, born January 2, 1855 in East Mahoning Township, devoted his life to education and religious leadership. He led Stone Valley Academy, studied at Westminster College, Princeton Theological Seminary, and Pittsburgh Theological Seminary, and served as pastor in MecCoysville, Tranquility, Olathe, and as head of theology at Knoxville College. He taught English Bible and served Tarkio College as Vice President before his death on March 27 while planning to retire after the term. Surviving are his widow, sons Paul and Herman, and daughter Miss Funice Work.

Harrisburg March 30 governor Fisher vetoed several fight bills while approving seven measures including the Moore bill creating an additional judge in the Washington county court of common pleas. The Haines bill requiring oleomargarine agents to be licensed was vetoed as unconstitutional for orders placed from outside sources.

Philadelphia March 30 INS Alice Labutis a 12 year old foster daughter of Mrs Stella Ross kidnapped by Curtis Devonshire a local salesman will be rushed to Jefferson hospital on arrival despite reports she was unharmed during the trip to Charlotte NC where he was apprehended Devonshire expressed remorse and denied harming her She has long suffered throat issues from swallowing lye and may require operations. Devonshire’s wife suffered a nervous shock and may seek a divorce.
Griffith argues a higher gasoline tax is fair because highway users pay in direct proportion to use. He notes at least twenty percent of tax receipts come from out of state drivers and warns prices will rise. The plan would cost the average motorist about $3.50 a year and would shift bridge and township aid to state responsibility across several counties.

George KE Flinn, president of Booth and Flinn Company and son of the late William Flinn, died yesterday at West Penn Hospital of pneumonia. He succeeded his father in directing the firm, long among the nation’s leading engineering contractors, which built the Liberty tunnels, the Holland tunnel, and now works on a Harlem River subway tube.
The calf theft case led to the arrest of Miller who was jailed in the County Jail with $1,000 bail. Officers believe he was the driver who struck a member of the State Highway Patrol after a signal to stop Was knocked to the pavement and injured. The pursuing officers report the driver sped away after the collision.
In Elkton Maryland an 82 year old woman Mrs Anus Mahoney and her 50 year old son Edward were shot and burned to death in their farmhouse. Neighbors found the house on fire but could not reach the bodies. Firemen and police believe bandits killed them and set the blaze to hide the crime. The pair were known to keep large sums of money at home.
Pittsburg March 30 INS reports banker John A Bell a Carnegie financier and former Carnegie Trust Co official serving six and a half years for embezzlement at Allegheny General Hospital will be eligible for parole in four months Bell was committed May 18 1927 and will complete one third of his term by July 18 He faces a 19000 fine and prosecution costs as part of his sentence
Jease P Franks, 31, son of C B Franks, a local coal operator, died of a heart attack while enroute home from Florida aboard a Baltimore and Ohio Pullman car. He had spent the winter in Florida seeking to regain his health and was found dead in his seat shortly before the train arrived in Connellsville, Pennsylvania.

Mrs H C Young and Mrs by 2 Walker attended quilting at Mrs D S McCoy’s. OC Hartman visited the ailing Mrs William Bagley. G D Patrick was a Saturday evening guest at H C Young’s.
