New York March 29. Activity among women in the war effort broadens as 23 young women at Hunter College learn to take down wireless messages under Navy radio inspector Otto Redfern. The program stems from efforts by Mrs Herbet Sumner Owen and the Wireless Woman's League, with support from the National Service groups and the Woman Suffrage party.

He warned the war’s end would end such deception and praised Russian and British scrutiny of shipments. Meanwhile locals in New York discussed Navy recruiting, wartime service for women, and the need for a National Woman's Power Board to coordinate women’s work across states as Commissary and service roles expand.
Petersburg Indiana March 28. A new oil field excites the state as gas is struck at 800 feet in the sixth gas sand. A six inch pipe delivers a strong flow tearing shed from the derrick. Oil is believed to underlie the gas.
