Youth claims kidnaping tale from Butler to Lyndora
James Rogers twelve years old says a foreigner lured him into a wagon near Castle Shannon and kidnapped him to Butler then Lyndora where he was kept prisoner for three days. He escaped when the man drank, and he was later found at Renfrew after missing a week from his grandparents. The boy recounted being threatened with death if he tried to leave and told of plans to sell him to gypsies.

English officer on strike duty in Philadelphia over debts
Captain Arthur Temple Rivett-Carnac, on two years leave from Somersetshire, was arrested at the Central police station for causing a disturbance while working as a trolley conductor in Philadelphia to pay debts totaling 25,000 dollars. He had arrived from New York two weeks earlier and claimed the debts were “a few little” ones. Magistrate Beaton handled the case.
