Conviction For Poulson In Burglaries

The Commonwealth charged that cash and jewelry vanished from Rich's safe, though investigators say the loot totaled 478000. Miss Reis and Berkery, plus Ralph Staine Jr. and Clyde L. Miller, faced trial for the burglary. Miller ill. Berkery and Reis also indicted in Atlantic County for Vincent Blaney's murder. Poulson testified, then repudiated a signed confession as the jury convicted him after multiple ballots. He faces up to 20 years or a 10000 dollar fine.

Midland Area Highway Death in Greene County

A two car crash on Route 30 in Greene County killed Lester L. Baker, 71, of Aliquippa R D 1 and injured another man. Richard H. Dye of Clinton R D 1 was admitted to East Liverpool General Hospital with a broken right shoulder and head injuries after Dye reportedly swerved into Baker’s path. State police report the crash occurred Friday.

Senator Clark shifts from administration plan, proposing a separate bill for federal loans to private and parochial schools. Temple Head Quits GOP Job Forces Resignation

Dr. Robert L. Johnson resigned as Temple University chancellor to devote full time to the Republican Alliance. The 18 year president emeritus notified the Board of Trustees and rendered his resignation on March 10 to avoid embarrassment over his political activities. Johnson also serves as a national Republican committeeman from Pennsylvania.

Funds Boost Brownsville Dam Project

Federal budget increases for Maxwell locks and dam at Brownsville from 5.5 million to 9.3 million, speeding up construction on the 18 million project. Living Costs Return To Record Level

Living costs rose in February with prices up one tenth of a percent, applying pressure on overall inflation. The February index reached 27.5 percent of the 1947–49 average living cost level, driven by higher medical care and food costs while drugs declined.
