Warn Fishermen Hunters on Fire Prevention In Woods

Harrisburg March 24 Forests and Waters Secretary M F Draemel appeals to sportsmen organizations in Pennsylvania to prevent forest fires this year. He notes fire causes great losses in game and stresses forests are vital for hunting and fishing. Stassen seeks radio debate with MacArthur in 1948 bid

Harold E. Stassen proposes a radio debate with General Douglas MacArthur on U S foreign policy. He calls MacArthur an active Republican campaigner and notes both are on Nebraska and Wisconsin primary ballots with April 13 and April 16 dates respectively. Stassen says MacArthur’s Army role won’t stop a debate and marks his Missouri River development speech as major.

Black Market In German Cities

U S troops raided a Jewish displaced persons camp at Zeilsheim near Frankfurt seizing four truckloads of contraband in a large scale black market operation. German homes were searched and 1400 raiders were involved collecting cigarettes army merchandise penicillin leather and about 2500 in forbidden U S currency and weapons. Several suspects were arrested with no resistance reported.

Fifty Year Alliance Approved By Belgian Senate

In Brussels the Belgian Senate approved by 138 to 15 a fifty year alliance with Great Britain France The Netherlands and Luxembourg. Communists opposed and a large majority is expected in the Chamber of Deputies after Easter recess. Delegates of the Foreign ministry reported the move.

Five Powers Discuss Permanent Consultative Council

Five ministers met for two hours to discuss establishing a permanent consultative council as ordered. They will reconvene tomorrow to continue talks on the proposed body and its authority.
