He urges members to invite nonmembers to join, promising a friendlier, more productive life on and off the farm.
The Department of Commerce reports American women imported nearly eighty tons of Chinese hair from Hong Kong in 1915. It records 1,187 cases of 133 pounds each amounting to 147,872 pounds total. Based on a half pound per head, about 316,749 women bought Chinese hair in 1916. The data notes imports are almost entirely for worn hair use.
Washington March 2 The Department of Commerce urges businesses to conserve old paper and rags to ease a looming raw material shortage. About 15,000 tons of paper are produced daily in the United States and much is discarded or burned. Reclaiming this material could supply another batch for making a slightly inferior parade.
Berlin reports libraries destroyed by Russian invasion in East Prussia. Berliner Goethebund launches a subscription to restore books to villages. Herr Krupp leads with 1,250 marks. In another note, boys are being trained to replace Limbach firemen serving at the front.

Church notices list Sabbath School at 9 45 with baptism and reception of members and sermon by the pastor. Evening service at 7 30 and messages on faith. Lutheran services include morning sermon by Rev Traub of State College. Junior Endeavor and Senior Endeavor meet with evening services as scheduled.
The will of Joseph M Laughlin late of Indiana has been registered here. After estate expenses the entire property is left to his wife Elizabeth Laughlin without restrictions. His son Harry J Laughlin is named executor. The will is dated March 1 1913.
The 8:35 train from Ansylvania was delayed an hour due to a broken eccentric on the engine. A relief engine from Blairsville arrived and the train proceeded to Indiana where it connected with Main line trains. East and westbound passengers faced slight delays. Saturday routine continued.

Farm workers saw little uplift from the broader wage rise tied to European war. USDA figures show farm hands earned about 47 cents a day without board and 1.15 with, roughly one cent more daily than last year, despite higher raw product prices.
