SALTSBURG The Rev George C Vetter of Leechburg was reelected president of the East Conference at a St James Lutheran Church meeting. Other officers kept their posts as vice president secretary and treasurer. Delegates and alternates to the United Lutheran Church in America were chosen, and the assembly discussed a new church site. Mission work in Uruguay and support for Thiel College were approved. The conference reaffirmed opposition to gambling prior to the May primary.
