Last Raft Released After Inquest Delays

The ill fated raft crew battled delays as officials, including Samuel Humes and a Lycoming County detective, halted transport until the inquest. Coroner Brandon aimed to keep summoned individuals in Muncy. John Myers and Edward Winner led the raft with Conner and others aboard. The craft struck a bridge pier in swift current, sparking dynamite searches for bodies as missing crew members were named. Robert McGee, a McGees Mills crewman, survived the plunge and reported all seven missing were likely drowned.

Stolen Here Car Recovered in Pennsylvania

A car theft led to a chase from Homer City to New Kensington where Frank Bombach and a 23 year old from Homer City were detained after failing to show a valid driver’s license. Police alerted local officers, and Beal proceeded to bring the suspects to New Kensington lockup.

Colver Man Hurt In Auto Mishap

A Colver man, David R. Allison aged 44, suffered a skull fracture and facial lacerations when the car he rode in struck a concrete head wall near Lilly in Cambria County and overturned. He was taken to Mercy Hospital Johnstown. Driver Edward F. Merrill of Syracuse, N Y, escaped injury. Estimated vehicle damage was $250.
