Washington Va March 23 UP The four day strike of Washington and Jefferson College under graduates ended today with students returning to classes. A petition charging Dr Baker with domination autocracy will be presented to the Pittsburgh board of trustees Wednesday. The main complaint concerns the administration athletic policy. Classes had been disrupted since last Wednesday when about 20 percent of the 412 students walked out during chapel. An effort to resume full schedule was hindered by many students having gone home.

Fire destroys Caylor store in Washington street
Fire gutted the store room of Don Caylor on Washington street Saturday evening. The one story addition to the Ed Widdowson estate was ruined along with Caylor’s clothing and groceries. Estimated damage about 1500 dollars. The alarm came from Mrs Zita Leopold who lives attached to the store. The local fire company extinguished the flames with little effort as a stove heated the area. Smoke damaged Mrs Leopold’s home. Firemen ask motorists to keep off streets leading to the scene.

Elder dies after long illness in Indiana hospital
Private Thomas Harnett Elder, a State Highway Patrol member, died after fourteen months bedridden following a duty injury. Amputation of his left leg during a test infection treatment led to collapse. he had been hospitalized since June 25, 1930. Despite multiple operations and ongoing struggle, his condition deteriorated and he passed away at 2 PM Saturday.
