The Nations Weather Report From The Associated Press

The Nation's Weather reports a cold front bringing heavy rain from Texas to the Mississippi valley with dreary conditions north to Indiana and lower Michigan. A second front drops rain in the upper Ohio valley while milder temperatures spread east of the Rockies. Morning readings span 16 to 71 degrees, with highs in the sixties across Missouri and fifties over the Texas Panhandle and Virginia.

Car Theft At Troutman’s Store Stuns Community

March 21 1928 an Overland touring car license B15 415 owned by J E Strittmatter was stolen from in front of Troutman’s store while the owner briefly left the vehicle. FHA Eyes Solar Heat Mandate for Rural Homes

The Agriculture Department says the Farmers Home Administration may require solar heating or non fossil fuels in all homes financed after 1980. Plans, due in four months, will study effects on home prices as the agency oversees a $3.5 billion program aiding low and moderate income rural families to build or buy housing.

Wages and Prices Targeted by Carter Anti-Inflation Plan

Washington AP report on the Carter administration’s plan to challenge wage and price increases deemed unjustified. Barry Bosworth, head of the Council on Wage and Price Stability, says the program relies on public hearings and subpoenas and may require a more visible presidential role. He notes delays and the coal strike as factors hampering progress, with inflation seen as driven by prices and not solely wages. The plan aims to cut inflation to about 9.5 percent annually by urging major industries and unions to restrain increases.

Rhodesia forms transitional government to govern Rhodesia

Rhodesia's transitional Executive Council to be sworn in with Prime Minister Ian Smith and three black leaders Muzorewa Sithole and Chirau. The council will appoint a second level ministerial body to run daily administration with each ministry led jointly by a black and a white. Talks with Nkomo and Mugabe continue to shape a constitutional framework for Zimbabwe and elections with universal suffrage.
