Officials from Buffalo and Susquehanna Coal and Coke and four other large coal firms said production costs would drop by ten cents per ton. The wage reduction affects about 16,000 miners across central bituminous fields with inside day rates now at 4.76 dollars, higher than Pittsburgh and West Virginia scales.

A frame dwelling on the Walter Friedline farm in Derry Township Westmoreland County near Blairsville burned early today with undetermined origin. Henry Hill family occupants fled unharmed as the blaze leveled the farmhouse. neighbors and police initially called no fire apparatus. The fire started around 1 45 a m. authorities reported no danger to nearby outbuildings. Mr Friedline resides in Blairsville.

Leg Breaks From Fall From Freight Car Near Latrobe
Edgar Yeager 18 of Bolivar admitted to La Trobe hospital after a fall from a freight car on the Pittsburgh Division of the Pennsylvania Railroad. He suffered a fracture to the left leg and a head laceration. The accident occurred at 3 p.m. yesterday at railroad water pans east of Latrobe.

Verdict Reached In Costello Court Trial Not Guilty On Firearm Charge
John Costello of Homer City was found not guilty of felonious assault and pointing or discharging firearms but guilty of violating the uniform firearms act.
