Convicts Unfed as Model Mess Hall Burned at Stateville

Rioting prisoners at Stateville prison caused a massive fire that destroyed or damaged about 2,000,000 in property. Guards patrolled walls as several inmates were wounded and one, Ray Arney, died at Stateville Hospital. National guard and local police aided the response.

Cokeville Man Killed In Freight Car Accident

Clarence Parke 27 of Cokeste near Righsville was killed when he was knocked from the top of a freight car and run over by the train’s wheels. The incident occurred after he and a companion left Blairsville yesterday. Parke, formerly of 128 Ranmaestre, Blew, was a father of four. Railroad police reported no witnesses to the fatal fall.
