Blockade Ends on P R R Division After Major Wreck
Kane March 19 The Reno division of the Pennsylvania Railroad resumed traffic today after the worst freight wreck in years caused a 24 hour blockade at Beechwood nine miles west of Emporium on the Philadelphia Erie main line. Passenger train 681 the Philadelphia to Erie flyer was the first through the wreckage since yesterday morning. Thirty four freight cars loaded with merchandise and grain were demolished. The locomotive engineer avoided loss of life by braking the entire train and escaping by the locomotive before it pileup toppled. Wrecking crews work on debris as remaining track clearance continues.
