Clymer Man Hurt In Coal Truck Wreck

Robert Fleming of Clymer was seriously injured Wednesday when his coal truck on the Clymer Marion Center road lost control after a driveshaft failure. He suffered facial lacerations and severe body bruises as the vehicle struck a highway guard fence and broke several fence posts.

Attempted Theft at Blairsville Drug Store

Burglars broke into the basement of the Shepley drug store on East Market Street Blairsville but failed to breach the first floor. State Police at Greensburg continued probing the Coral robbery of Mike Matthews General Store last Wednesday morning. Unmasked bandit forced a butcher to surrender 426 dollars. 150 Million Idle Dollars Back at Work

Washington reports 150,000,000 idle dollars chased out of hoarding and returned to use in six weeks. Money in circulation fell 109,000,000 Feb 10 to Mar 16, while hoarding rose sharply. Circulation on Mar 16 stood at 5,522,000,000, down 22,000,000 for the week but up 960,000,000 from a year ago. Federal Reserve notes declined 16,000,000 to 2,601,2,000. Bank failures dropped to five National banks since Feb 17, the best two-year run.

Troopers Testify in Homer City Hotel Shooting Trial

Three state troopers formerly at Indiana substation testified as witnesses in the trial of John Coatelo proprietor of the Commercial Hotel in Homer City charged with shooting John Turner of Pricedale last summer. Fire volunteer nearly killed in barber chair incident

Edwin J. Meager, truck foreman of the Meyersdale fire department, leaped from a barber chair when a fire alarm sounded, cutting his throat with the razor. He was rushed to a hospital where surgeons sewed the deep gash after he bled heavily. The fire itself was minor.

Harry F Powers known as the Quiet Dell Bluebeard refused clemency and declared his innocence as he faced execution. In a Me death cell interview with International News Service he remained calm, hoping justice would prevail. R. P. Community Band Organized at Lucerne Mines

An organization to be known as the R. P. Community Band has been organized at Lucerne Mines Indiana county. The band includes about 30 members and is led by James Rafford, who has directed several bands in previous years. Clymer Wins Class B District 6 Title In Indiana County

Clymer claimed the Class B district 6 title last night, sweeping county basketball honors. Franklin, defending champions, pushed hard but trailed by halftime and were overtaken in the second half as Clymer built a multi possession lead. Furlong and Becoskey contributed pivotal plays for Clymer, with Buchan and Ay adding scoring as the game narrowed late. The district includes Indiana, Cambria, Clearfield, Blair, Huntington, and Mifflin counties, making the win a notable achievement against strong competition.
