A 13 foot high 700 foot dam near Rural Valley Borough on an unnamed tributary of Cowanshannock Creek was ordered drained after an inspection found the wall section collapsed and earth banks eroding. The move follows Hoveida's life trial protests and rising public pressure, while a US plea bargain in Pittsburgh links to health insurance fraud.
Alfred Kahn, head of the Council on Wage and Price Stability, says the administration must see inflation taper by early summer or risk labeling the program a failure. He notes continued inflation above 10 percent for a few months and urges broader cooperation beyond big labor and business.
