Plan Major Water Firm Program to Expand Capacity

Indiana County water firm plans a major expansion to boost daily capacity from 1.9 million gallons in 1963 to projected 2.53 million by 1975 and 3.66 million for peak demand. The project includes a two million gallon Aldrich purification unit, new valve house and chemical feed building, remote valve operation, and a 175 000 gallon clear well to supply three fourths of Indiana Borough and White Township residents.

Water plant expansion planned at Two Lick Creek site

Mr Williams outlined a 250000 gallon wash water tank 30 feet by 48 feet and a new 16 inch intake with a protective screen to curb debris clogging. Pumping upgrades include retaining one 2.2 million gpd pump replacing another with 2.5 million capacity and adding a 1.6 million gpd unit. The 1964 program follows 1963 pipeline work to reduce main breaks from underground subsidence.

Scranton to Meet Jap in Harrisburg Exports Conference
