Charles Pa resident Joseph Butcher was found guilty on five counts in a shooting case linked to the Krouse investigation. The jury reached a swift verdict after a short deliberation, with the trial centering on evidence tying Butcher to the incident in Charles.
In Cherles Indiana county on Orthodox Greek Easter May 12 1931 Joseph Butcher was found guilty on five charges including shooting with intent to kill aggravated assault battery and carrying concealed weapons. Karl Krouse wounded and Butcher later turned himself in. Other defendants forfeited bonds or had cases settled. Archie F Stewart named minority inspector for Cherryhill Township and J M Stewart resignation noted.
Norfolk reporters say three coast guard cutters launched from Norfolk to aid in rescuing a burning vessel whose name was not disclosed. Sundowner, an American tanker, sighted the blaze about 50 miles south of Fenwick Island near the Delaware Breakwater but did not stay to assist. The Pulaski cutter reported it was off Fenwick Island scanning for the burning ship.
In West Elizabeth Pennsylvania an aged Black woman known only as Mrs West died in a bed fire that swept her home yesterday. The blaze was extinguished by her husband who summoned a doctor, but she died before the physician arrived. An item also mentions auto parts ad and Ritz Theatre Building.

Pittsburgh March 17 A Police Radio Cruiser Squad officer Thomas D. English 36 likely died after falling from a three story building roof during a raid on a petting drinking party. Two girls Anna Thomas 30 and Winifred Baird 82 were detained. Police found blankets papers and four quarts of whisky on the roof.
James M. Stewart, Civil War veteran and retired merchant, died after a short illness at his South Seventh Street home. Funeral at Second United Presbyterian Church with burial in Greenwood Cemetery. body lies in state 9:00 to service time. Obituary to run Friday in the Gazette.

Vincent Martelli aged 26 was killed almost instantly in a North Denver shootout early today as gang warfare erupts.
