The United States faces a larger oil import shortage under a new global allocation formula. The New York Times cites Energy Secretary Schlesinger predicting imports could decline from 500000 to 800000 barrels daily. Officials say nations will receive oil based on usual consumption rather than imports. The GAO questions some oil company cutbacks in jet fuel supplies to airlines.

During his term the office workload rose 30 percent, prisoner numbers grew by 30 percent, and magisterial orders were added. Police and fire calls also increased through County Control.
President Carter says Egyptian Israeli peace pact may cost U S taxpayers about 5 billion dollars with a roughly 4 billion in military aid and 1 billion in economic aid over the next three to four years. Congress members from both parties call it a small price for peace as Israeli cabinet backs the treaty.
The forecast from Chief Tommy Hawk calls for sunny Friday with highs 40 to 45 and low chance of precipitation.
