Grand Jury In Report Indiana County Jury Report

The Indiana County Grand Jury completed its work and reviewed 21 bills. Sixteen were approved and five dismissed. They praised county buildings for housekeeping in the jail, noted Indian Haven facilities are old and should be replaced, and found housekeeping excellent with cheerful rooms. Screens are needed for patient care. Mrs. Elsie T. Young served as jury foreman.

Marine letter shows promise to aid Vietnamese children

fragments from an unidentified explosive device note a Marine’s December letter to his parents urging aid for Vietnamese children. His mother cites school and orphanage support organized by Harmony Grange and local schools. The fallen Marine asks for school supplies and medicine, saying service members should be prepared to help children, and a surviving brother plans to fulfill the pledge. The burial will be handled by Pyott Funeral Home.

Humphrey calls for containment not isolation of China

Vice President Hubert H. Humphrey on Sunday urged containing Red China's aggressive militarism while opposing the regime's isolation from the family of mankind. He said the US had tried to visit China to meet its people but was rebuffed by Communist leadership and warned change would come only when new leaders rise.

Missing Boy, 32, Found Safe After Nightlong Search

More than 50 volunteers from fire companies, state police, Boy Scouts and the Civil Air Patrol searched a marshy, swampy area after a 32 year old boy went missing. The caretaker found him near dawn. he was taken to Scranton State Hospital for observation and later reunited with his father and Mildred. The boy said he would not do it again.

Record Road Spending Plan Offered

Gov. Scranton proposed a record 625.4 million highway budget as part of Pennsylvania's 10 year road building plan. The plan funds 320.6 million for construction with 68.1 million from the Highway Authority and relies on existing debt authority. no legislative action is required.

Pechan Wife To Attend Dinner With Pennsylvanian Officials

Gov William W Scranton and Mrs Scranton host a black tie dinner this evening at the William Penn Museum for Pennsylvania seven Superior Court judges and their wives. State Senator Albert R Pechan and Mrs Pechan of Ford City are among the guests. W Stuart Helm Secretary of the Commonwealth and Armstrong County resident also attends.

State Police Detective Boss Moved

Harrisburg AP report on a special news conference by Gov. Scranton detailing a police investigation into alleged wire tapping. Maj. Willard J. Stanton was removed as commander of the detective bureau amid a House investigation and swift repercussions.

Air Strike Hits Ashau Camp Under Fire in South Viet Nam

U S Air Force and Marine fighters attacked the Ashau Special Forces camp on the Laos border for a second day. They faced the heaviest antiaircraft fire yet seen in South Viet Nam but destroyed a building and five mortar positions and neutralized surrounding air defenses, with no plane losses reported. A U S spokesman noted six Americans were lost previously as forces attempted to defend the camp. A U S spotter plane was downed today 40 miles northeast of Saigon, the pilot hurt and rescued while the observer was killed.

Community 4-H Club In Purchase Line Organizes

A new Community 4-H Club will organize Tuesday March 15 at 8 p.m. in the Purchase Line Academy. Planned activities include agriculture and home economics with leaders Janet Houck Jaynelle Fyock Maxine Fyock Clyde Houck Ira Fyock and Emerson Goss.
