Death notices from Indiana County list William Scott Ank of Creekside R D died Sunday after a six day illness, age not stated. Services to be held at Gastown Lutheran Church with interment in Elderton Cemetery. Also Barbara Gale McElfresh infant daughter of Glenn B and Evelyn McElfresh died in Pittsburgh Children’s Hospital. Grace Cochran Hebrank and Milo E Hileman noted with service details and burial.

A roundup in New York netted a man accused by the FBI of evading induction. He registered under a false name failed to return a questionnaire failed to appear for a physical examination neglected to report for induction and carried no registration card. He claimed his attempts to dodge the law caused gray hair stomach trouble and nervous disorders.

Meadville police report two six year old boys confessed to smashing 44 windows tearing four sinks from walls and damaging a vacant house. They were placed in custody with their parents. Both mothers work in war plants and one father is in the army while the other war worker awaits military call.
In Chappaqua New York on March 13 six year old Jean McCormick led her young guests Anne Johnson seven and Daniel four from Branchville Conn to a pond for ice sliding. While playing the Johnson children returned inside. Jean vanished and was later found drowned under the ice.
Warpole Virginia junior high installs a gym jukebox for free dancing at lunch. Gym instructor Grayton Daugherty says a short five minute session aids digestion and helps students learn to dance and have a supervised, pleasant time on school premises.
