A Cyprus anti-British strike paralyzes commerce for a second day, with shops closed except in Turkish and American quarters. Cyprus Mines Corp reports 2,000 workers not striking. Police face teen stone-throwing as reserves disperse demonstrators. an 11 year old priest faces charges in connection with the unrest. Emergency measures are in effect.
Indiana Borough Council accepted Otis Elevator Company bid of 16321 for the elevator and B O Wilt bid of 11373 for shaft and installation work with potential cost variation. The council also authorized purchase of a new police car from McGill Motors, and appointed Trevor Hadley J Burnell Shea and Edgar C Perry to the police civil service committee.

An Indiana man, George Westeroth, was found guilty by an Indiana County court jury of operating a motor vehicle under the influence. Sentencing was deferred by Judge Edwin M. Clark. The case opened yesterday as part of the March court list.
In Decatur near Atlanta a 17 year old boy, Jon Hutchison Phillips, shot himself after meeting a girl his father had forbidden him to see. Police say the incident followed a meeting with two girls, one of whom was warned to stay away. He reportedly told the girl this would be real easy and wouldn’t feel it before firing a .38 revolver. A separate homeowner reported a roof incident in Los Angeles involving ice and a falling chiller, initially thought prank. deputies noted a hole 18 inches wide and debris over the floor.
Harrisburg report says four counties Elk Mittlin Bradford and Greene have completed installation of the new uniform real estate tax system though which counties have begun using it remains doubtful. Gov Leader signed May legislation setting January 1 1958 as the deadline for 59 counties to adopt the uniform system with several exceptions. The old law required action by January 1 1957. The Senate considered an extension.
A 15 year old Indiana boy was sent to Camp Hill Industrial School for an indeterminate term after admitting involvement in six auto thefts in the borough over about ten days in late February. Judge Edwin M. Clark ordered the commitment following the spree that included fleeing in a stolen car and burglarizing a service station before his arrest by Wilkins Township police and transfer to local authorities.
In Ennis Texas Dr Hindman fired a warning to a six officer unit after learning they issued 53 traffic tickets each last week. He said continued ticketing at the current pace could lead to firings and recommended salary raises for six officers if performance improved.
New York AP reports Margaret Truman 32 and Clifton Daniel 43 plan a quiet Missouri wedding next month in Independence Trinity Church. The couple, both single, spoke at a news conference with Truman confirming the engagement earlier in Kansas City.
Manchester New Hampshire reports the first primary of the 1956 campaign. Millsfield and Ellsworth delivered mixed Eisenhower Stevenson results, with six ballots in Ellsworth and four in Millsfield. A blank vote appeared in Ellsworth. Kefauver and Eisenhower were named on the presidential line. Stevenson and Gay Harriman were write ins in Millsfield.

The Pennsylvania Supreme Court ruled the state's movie censorship law unconstitutional for vagueness. Chief Justice Horace Stern said banning criteria such as sac religious, indecent and immoral are too broad and offend due process. The decision upholds a lower court ruling overturning the ban on She Shoulda Said No.
The body of 12 year old Daniel Wardoclip of Springdale was found at the bottom of the YMCA pool last night after a high school swimming party.
Hollywood reports reveal Pat Sheehan of San Francisco chosen by NBC to join The Comedy Hour as a regular performer. The sign follows a publicity stunt with Dean Martin and Jerry Lewis. Weaver ordered the contract after a sitter with Sylvester L. Weaver. Sheehan will perform, study drama and voice, and pose for cheesecake while NBC seeks to challenge Sullivan's ratings.
